Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance

Lyndon School is committed to work towards meeting the Quality in Careers Standard incorporating the Gatsby Benchmarks.

At Lyndon, we strongly believe that providing good quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) is a vital part of a student’s learning and development. Giving students access to impartial and independent information will not only broaden their horizons but also raise aspirations and inspire them to work hard to achieve their long term goals and ambitions. We feel that learners who are well motivated and have a clear vision of their future are more likely to extend themselves academically.

Lyndon School is committed to offering quality ‘Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance’ incorporating the Gatsby Benchmark standards. We are proud to have been awarded ‘The Quality in Careers Standards’ by CSW Investor in Careers. We are currently in the process of reaccreditation and welcome any feedback from learners, parent/carers and external stakeholders.

The implementation of our CEIAG programme is designed to include a range of activities to ensure that all learners from Years 7 – 11 are supported and offered:

  • Information on further education, higher education, technical qualifications (T Levels), apprenticeships and other opportunities available at each transition point.
  • Information from a range of local providers about opportunities including educational and work based options such as apprenticeships and T Levels.
  • Information on how to make applications and the employability skills required to secure employment. Learners in Year 11 will also receive a one to one careers meeting with a qualified careers advisor.

Assessing our Careers Provision

CEIAG at Lyndon is measured and assessed in a number of ways. Firstly, we evaluate all careers-related activity, including gathering stakeholder voice from all relevant parties. We monitor our careers programme termly using Compass, in which we receive external support and challenge by Solihull MBC. Finally, we assess learner Post-16 destinations and monitor to ensure that our young people remain in education, employment or training, continuing to support where required.

Our CEIAG programme is monitored and measured through learner evaluations, tracking of learner destinations and through follow-on work in partnership with our main post-16 providers.  Parents and learners can access information regarding our careers programme through our regular Careers Newsletter, which is issued each term, as well as via the school website, regular emails from Mrs. Carey, and through our destinations platform, Unifrog. The information on this page will be reviewed in July 2026.
