Lyndon School recognises and values the individuality of all pupils.
We are committed to giving all students every opportunity to achieve the highest standards. This includes all pupils regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical status and ability. We strive to create a sense of community and belonging for all our students. We are incredibly proud of our inclusive ethos with high expectations and suitable targets, a broad and balanced curriculum for all children and systems for early identification of barriers to learning and participation.
At Lyndon School, we welcome everybody from our local community. We believe that our own school community should provide every child with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. When considering Lyndon School as a choice for your child our families can be assured that we will make reasonable adjustments for students with special educational needs and disability.
Every student at Lyndon School has the opportunity to follow all National Curriculum subjects as well as following an appropriate GCSE or Vocational curriculum pathway.
We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between SEND and non-SEND students. It is our policy to not withdraw students from lessons wherever possible.
We expect all students, regardless of their ability to undertake a full and broad curriculum.
Monitoring
- The Special Educational Needs Policy is monitored by the Board of Trustees.
- The SENDCo presents SEND issues to Academy Governors at Governors meetings, through the Head teacher’s Report, and through meetings with the Academy Governor with responsibility for the school’s arrangements and provision for meeting Special Educational/Disability Needs.
- The Academy Governor with responsibility for SEND is appointed annually at the first full Academy Governors meeting of the school year.
- The Academy Governor with specific oversight for the provision for students with Special Educational Needs for the academic year 2023/2024 is Natalie Cox .
The Local Offer has two main purposes:
- To provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about the available provision and how to access it
- To make provision responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving children and young people with SEND, their parents, and the professionals who work with them in its development and review.
What will the Local Offer cover?
The Local Offer will help you to find information about what universal, targeted and specialist provision is available for children and young people with SEND in Solihull and Birmingham and how to access different types of services and support.
