Pupils study either or French or Spanish on entry in Year 7 and continue with this language until the end of Year 9. A large number of our pupils continue to study a language at GCSE, enabling them to gain the Ebacc qualification.
Curriculum Intent
We want our students to have a love of languages, and aim to achieve this by promoting a linguistic curiosity and an intrinsic motivation to explore, respect and celebrate other cultures and people.
Curriculum maps are designed to ensure that all four skills (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening) are covered in every unit and opportunities to revisit key skills, in different ways, are embedded into students’ learning journeys.
Grammar is the foundation for building language skills.
Learning grammar enables students to speak and write more accurately thus developing their confidence and fluency. Our aim is to broaden horizons!
