Lyndon School holds Macmillan Coffee Morning
Learners, staff, and parents at Lyndon School in Solihull, part of the Summit Learning Trust, came together this term to support Macmillan by hosting their annual Coffee Morning.
The school rallied to make the event a success, with participation from learners and parents. From delicious cakes, cookies and biscuits, to freshly brewed tea and coffee, the morning was filled with the aroma of baked goods and the sound of laughter and conversation, as attendees came together for a great cause.
The event raised nearly £200 for the charity, which provides critical care and support for those affected by cancer. The money raised helps them fund their amazing nurses, answer calls on their support line, provide financial support and more. In 2023, Coffee Mornings raised over £18 million and they hope to have raised more this year.
The first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally.
Head of School, Syreeta Kapswara said:
“We are incredibly proud of our learners and the entire school community for their generosity and support. Macmillan’s work is vital, and we’re thrilled to contribute to their efforts, especially when so many people have been affected by cancer.”
