Local school nominated for a Pearson National Teaching Award, a Tes School Award and a National Diversity Award
Lyndon School in Solihull, part of the Summit Learning Trust, has been nominated for three prestigious awards!
The school has received a Bronze Award in the Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year category for the Pearson National Teaching Awards. This award is for a secondary school that can demonstrate its power and effectiveness in transforming the life chances of local children and, at the same time, enriching the local community.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards were founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam to recognise the life-changing impact teaching staff can have on the lives of the young people they work with. Finalists will find out if they have received a Bronze or Silver certificate on National Thank a Teacher Day on June 19th and Gold winners will be announced in November and will be invited to appear on the BBC’s The One Show.
Lyndon has also been shortlisted for Secondary School of the Year by the Tes School Awards. The Tes Schools Awards, which have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of education’, is a prestigious awards programme which celebrates the best of education across the UK. The shortlist was compiled by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders and experts. Winners will be announced on 21st June at a glittering gala awards night at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
Finally, the school has also been nominated for a National Diversity Award in the Diverse Company category. The awards are held in association with HSBC and are the UK’s most prestigious diversity event, celebrating the excellent achievements of grass-root communities that tackle the issues in today’s society, providing them with recognition for their dedication and hard work. Voting for the awards is now open here.
Lyndon School provides young people with an excellent portfolio of qualifications, skills and attributes to help them lead happy and successful lives as they embark on the next stage of their lives, whether that’s through further education, training or employment.
