Curriculum Team Leader: Mrs. Dennis

Assistant Curriculum Team Leader:Mr. Dodds

Key information:

Each subject is topic based and these topics are based on developing skills in Art; these topics may be taught at different points in the year for different students.

Curriculum Intent

We in Art, Design and Technology aspire to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.

We encourage students to feel safe to take risks and be creative, learning through their mistakes.

Within Art and Design students build skills in drawing and painting to enable them to express their ideas. We allow them to experiment in different materials to develop a breadth of knowledge ready for GCSE. Students will look at a range of different artists to discover the essence of their techniques allowing them to use them to develop their own unique style.

Within Technology students develop technical and practical knowledge and apply this to range of hands-on tasks. They are encouraged to be critical of others work and use this to inform their own innovations. Students work within a contextual brief to mirror design in industry and prepare them for GCSE.
