Computer Science and ICT
Curriculum Team Leader: Mr. Roberts
Assistant Curriculum Team Leader: Mr. Mohammed
Computer Science is not just about computers. Rather it is the study of computation and information, and is a subject, which involves you in the very make-up of the world, and over the last 30 years it has transformed the way we run our everyday lives.
Why Computer Science?
- Intellectual development.
- Personal development and qualities.
- Wider understanding of the world.
- Future employability.
We want students to foster a love of learning of how ICT works and how they can use it to support their learning in all subjects. We want students to be inquisitive and passionate by exploring the Computing technology underpinned by the acquisition of applying ICT skills.
•Computing has deep links with Mathematics and Science and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of computing is Computer Science, in which pupils are taught the principles of Information and Computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.
•Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use Information technology to create programs, systems and a range of multimedia content.
• Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and above all are digitally safe.
