TEENAGERS were given the chance to take a look at work life in a number of careers at Lyndon School.
The pupils at the school, which is part of the Summit Learning Trust, held its annual Careers Convention to help students decide on their next steps and map their future.
Year 9, 10 and 11 and their families were invited to meet colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers, training providers and businesses to raise their awareness as to the full range of options available to them, whether that be when deciding what options to take at GCSE or thinking ahead about the Post-16 choices available to them.
Over 50 organisations attended the Careers Convention, including local employers such as Balfour, Beatty Vinci and Skanska, giving students the opportunity to ask questions about courses, qualifications and career pathways into those organisations. The event also featured a talks on the importance of attendance and on the progression routes including A Levels, apprenticeships and technical qualifications.
Abid Butt, Principal at Lyndon School, part of Summit Learning Trust, said: “The Convention was a huge success for our learners, parents and carers, who had the chance to see the exciting pathways available to them beyond their time at Lyndon. We are very grateful to all the organisations that attended who gave learners an insight into their bright futures. We are committed to raising the aspirations of our young people, with access to external providers who can inspire and enthuse the next generation.”
