UPDATED: Letter for Parents Carers January 4th 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

You will have seen, I am sure, the message this evening from the Prime Minister. He has announced a full nationwide lockdown. As part of this announcement, all schools will be closed from tomorrow, with the exception of Key Worker children and those students that have been identified as requiring additional support. We have already been in contact with these parents and carers. Currently, it appears that schools will be closed until February half term.

I am extremely sorry that this information is coming to you at such late notice. Your child will, as planned, be provided with high quality remote learning through the virtual classroom on Microsoft TEAMS online. As in the previous national lockdown, we appreciate your help in supporting your child to engage with the set work to ensure that students do not fall behind with their learning.

The Prime Minister also announced that public examinations for Year 11 and Year 13 will not take place as planned this summer, and that another means of assessment will be used instead. Students in these year groups should try not to worry too much about this – everyone in the country is in the same situation here. We will do our utmost to ensure that learning for Year 11 prepares them extremely well for life beyond Lyndon. We await further information from Ofqual and we will update you in due course. However, we would strongly advise that all Year 11 students continue their online education as planned; indeed, our expectation will be that all students will engage fully in their online learning to ensure that students are able to meet any demands outlined by Ofqual to evidence their potential in the examination subjects they are entered for.

Teachers and staff will all continue to work extremely hard during this time, preparing and responding to students’ work, and contacting you and your child regularly to maintain contact with yourselves. If you have any queries or concerns during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will do our very best to help. All queries should be directed to and please do visit our website regularly for updates.

Please look after yourselves and stay safe. Yours faithfully,

Mr A Butt
