Welcome Back Letter 07 09 2020

7th September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome back to school from Lyndon School to all of our students and their families.

Following the publication of the 2020 Centre Assessed Grades (CAG), we are pleased to say that results at the school’s improvement journey have continued across many areas of the curriculum.  When compared with the 2019 published GCSE our latest provisional results show that we have:

  • Increased the percentage of students achieving a standard pass in both English and Mathematics by 6% percentage points this year to an all-time record of 71%
  • Secured a 10% increase in the number of 9-7 (or equivalent) grades.
  • Increased the percentage of students achieving a strong pass in both English and Mathematics by 5 percentage points this year to an all-time record of 43%.
  • Increased the percentage of students achieving a standard pass in in the Ebacc suite of qualifications by a further 6 percentage points this year to an all-time record of 33%.
  • Increased the percentage of students achieving a strong pass in in the Ebacc suite of qualifications by a further 10 percentage points this year to an all-time record of 24%.
  • Increased the percentage of students achieving a strong pass in Mathematics and science by 11 percentage points.
  • The percentage of students securing a positive destination in 2019 remains close to 99%. (TBC)

These results are testament to the hard work that was put in by students and staff and demonstrate that Lyndon continues its upward trajectory over the last three years to provide an excellent education to the young people who attend this school.

Open Evening

Due to the current restrictions in place relating to large gatherings, our Open Evening event this year will be held virtually.  In addition to the Principal’s presentation, which will be placed on our website in the coming weeks, the school will also be hosting some informal opportunities for prospective parents to meet with senior leaders.  These sessions will also be open to our current families who will have children coming through admissions next year.   Please refer to our website for further details; alternatively please contact our school office at enquiries@lyndon.org.uk

Communication

It is important that communication channels between home and school are clear and that you are confident about whom to contact.  Your child’s tutor is usually the first person to contact if you have a concern about your child or for general enquiries.  They can be contacted via the main office or email using the email address office@lyndon.org.uk.  Alternatively, you may wish to contact your child’s Pastoral Manager, again using the same channels.  Queries of a serious nature, or concerns related specifically to academic progress may be directly raised with either of my Vice Principals, Mr Szwaba, Mr Bohdanowitsch or Mrs Kapswara.  Parents are reminded that teachers have full teaching timetables and therefore appointments need to be made for meetings.

Your Contact Details.

A contact details sheet will be sent out to you in the near future.  Please check it carefully, correct it if appropriate, and return it signed (whether or not you have made any changes).  These sheets are very important as the details ensure we can contact you in the case of an emergency.  Please ensure that an email address is also provided where possible, as in the interests of sustainability and efficiency the school is increasingly using electronic means of communication.

We look forward to working with you over the coming year.  Please do contact us if we can be of assistance.

Yours sincerely

Mr A Butt

Principal
