Free School Meals

Free School Meals

Many families with children at Lyndon benefit from the Free School Meals system, and it may be that some people do not realise that they are eligible. If you want to find out if you are eligible, please continue reading!

What is it?
Students from eligible families receive an amount of money each school day which is added to their Parentpay account. Students then pay for their meals in the school canteen in exactly the same way as other students, so no one else needs to know.

If you are eligible and register for Free School Meals using the online application (see below), the school will also receive additional funding, called ‘Pupil Premium’, which we can use for providing increased support for disadvantaged children’s learning in a variety of ways.

Do you qualify?
You can register your child for Free School Meals if you get any of these benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance -income-based (JSA)
  • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an income that does not exceed £16,190
  • Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
  • Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
  • Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
